Telebehavioral Health

Upon completion of this program, the participant will have increased knowledge regarding the use of technology and telebehavioral health within their practice. Participants will have increased knowledge and skill as it relates to the clinical appropriateness of technology and treatment. Ethical and legal implications will be presented; along with clinical techniques and actions steps human service workers should take to ensure their client's safety when using technology for treatment sessions. Participants will further be introduced to the use of telebehavioral health with the special populations of the elderly and adolescent clients.

Course Objectives: 

After completing this continuing education activity, participants will be able to:

  • Define three types of telehealth service

  • Identify at least three differences between face-to-face and telehealth codes of conduct

  • Identify three clinical components of telebehavioral health

  • Identify three elements of telepresence

  • Define disinhibition effect

  • Be able to make a session safety checklist

  • Identify two challenges typically associated with online group facilitation and how to address them

  • Identify two challenges associated with medication-assisted treatment

  • Identify three safety concerns when working with teens
